Wireless HD | How to Playback and Watch Footage
Your Defender HD DVR can be programmed to record twenty-four hours a day, or to be triggered by motion. Either way, the process of reviewing your footage is the same.
Once you identify the timeframe in which an event occurred, you will need to locate it within the DVR.
Locate your footage by following these steps:
- Open the main menu
- Select Record Search
- Select the channels you would like to search for footage under Playback channel
From here, you can either enter a specific start time and end time or select a half hour period from the calendar above.
Once you click play, you will be taken to the playback screen. Here, you’ll see the footage and time frame you selected. If you want to view another day, select the date and channel from the top left of the screen.
Select the playback type:
General: Continuous recordings
Events: Motion triggered recordings
Pictures: Snapshots captured based on the capture menu options
Continuous recordings will appear as a green bar along the bottom of the screen, events such as motion will appear yellow.
Once you click play, you can click along these yellow or green bars to search through the timeline.
Once you’ve found the footage you need to save, pause the footage and insert your USB thumb drive, this must be 32 Gigabytes or less. If you have a Defender HD Wireless system, the drive should be inserted in the front USB port. If the mouse is already connected, remove the wireless receiver and connect the mouse to the rear USB port.
Along the playback options bar, you will see an icon with a pair of scissors, this is the clip button. While your footage is playing, click this to start a clip. Once the event you need to back up has ended, click the button again, it will have changed to a disc icon showing that the footage will now be saved.
The next menu will give you the option to save your file as RF or H 2 6 4, A V I, or M P 4. Select A V I or M P 4 for easy playback on most computers.
Click Save
This menu will show the contents of the USB drive. Click OK to begin the back-up process. Backup Successful will appear at the bottom of the screen once complete, right click to exit this menu.
You can now insert your USB drive into your computer or provide it to the authorities if needed.
If you need to back up a large amount of footage, you can do so by opening the Events menu under Record search, here you can search the date and time, select blocks of footage and either use quick backup to save the entire time frame selected, or click the check boxes, then backup to save specific files. The same USB screen will appear to complete backup.
