Defender HD | How to get the best Night Vision from your Defender Cameras
At Defender, we remove the cover of darkness from those looking to do harm. In this video, we’ll walk you through steps you can take to get the most out of your night vision.
Placement tips for better night viewing:
For the best results, your cameras should be installed 8 to 12 feet high and looking out at a downward angle. This helps to prevent vandals from reaching your cameras and tampering with them.
Each of our cameras has a specified night vision range. These vary from 40 feet up to 130 feet depending on the model and number of LEDs. Ambient light such as streetlights can help to increase this distance. Too much ambient light, however, may prevent night vision from turning on. Some surfaces will provide better infrared reflection resulting in some cameras appearing clearer than others.
When positioning your cameras, it’s important to avoid any obstructions to the camera’s lens and night vision. If the night vision reflects off one of these obstructions such as a low hanging eaves, you may see a ring of light or flashing in your night vision image.
Please note: infrared night vision will not function through a window. Positioning your camera inside looking out through a window will result in a glare or reflection when the night vision turns on.
